Bridge Cranes for steel industry:
MGS is also present in the steel processing sector with a variety of machines to fulfill any need.
The majority of our lifting devices are characterized by the heavy duty cycles that they have to meet. Fitted in processing plants with continuous working cycles, some run on a 24 hour cycle for up to 340 days a year.These machines can travel at speeds of 120-140 m/min for the long travel, 80 m/min for the trolley cross travel, and un to 30 m/min for the lifting speed. Given the high working capacity and hours of work the machines are engineered according to the A7/M7, A8/M8 class. Usually the operation and control of these machines are carried out by an operator located in an air conditioned cabin under the bridge or anchored to the hoist-trolley. We design these machines with service requirements in mind, so any maintenance will be quick and straight forward.
Crane for scrap yard: These machines are equipped with special lifting appendixes such as electro-hydraulic crab specifically suited to grab all types of scrap ferrous metals (light, medium, and heavy.) Bridge cranes are usually utilized to load the scrap metal; consequently the working environment and conditions determine a high thermo stress on the structures.
Ladle Cranes: These overhead cranes are specifically dedicated to the ladle handling; the operations are carried out by a laminar hooks directly connected to traverse equipped with an anti-swinging device. The working conditions are of high structural stress given by uninterrupted working cycles in relation to a high temperature and aggressive air. Those types of machines are usually installed in those plants with a continuous working cycle. Due to its specific utilization, they are engineered and constructed with the highest and restrictive norms of safety, leading to the development of redundant solutions, such as systems that prevent the hoists with independent wires, redundancy of activation, thermal shields in galvanized steel sheet or stainless steel, timely control of loads, utilization of special electrical/electronic components, machine control electronically assisted, mechanical and electronically anti-swinging device, real time monitoring of all the functions, etc.
Capacity of the cranes for ladle handling can be heavy: up to 400 tons.
Crane for handling semi-processed steel: (slabs, coils billets, etc.): these cranes are usually equipped with magnets or clamps necessary for the tackle and handling of those products that might reach temperatures of 600° Celsius; the use of rotating hoist-trolleys or rotating TRAVERSE allow the complete turning of 360° of the product. As for the coils handling special traverses are used in order to provide a safe and easy handling procedure.
Cranes for slag handling (waste produced during operation of furnaces): cranes designed for heavy duty equipped with electro-hydraulic grabs for the handling of high density waste which is also chemically aggressive.
Bridge Cranes for Automatic Handling Cycles:
MGS designs and produces bridge cranes with a high level of automation. These machines are usually equipped with a centralized control unit based on the ground. With this type of machine the only job of the operator is of supervision. These overhead cranes might be equipped with the following devices:
- Automatic control of product stored in stock through laser or radiofrequency sensors
- Automatic control of the machine position
- Length of the wire around the drum of the hoist
- Recordable steps of operations to be later repeated automatically
Given the high working capacity and hours of work the machines are engineered according to the A7/M7, A8/M8 class.
The know how in this field represents the most relevant aspect of the machine, and MGS has successfully installed overhead cranes with automatic working cycles especially in the field of household waste management inside waste burners plants.
Explosion Proof Cranes:
Among the range of cranes produced by MGS there are explosion proof overhead cranes. They are used in such environments at fire or explosion risk (Risk Areas according to European Directive 1999/92/CE). During the engineering and production phases, MGS takes care of all the technical aspects and adopts special measures in order to limit the temperature during the crane’s operation, and to avoid any situation that might lead to flames and sparks from both the electrical and electronic components and also the contact between mechanical components. Those machines have been successfully operated in the energy and petrochemical industry.
Bridge Crane for Energy Sector:
Overhead cranes for maintenance: generally machines with an average duty class A4/M4, A5/M5 and with lifting capacities ranging from 30-40 Tons mainly. If the cranes operate in an explosion risk environment MGS has the full engineering and construction capabilities to realize them.
Overhead crane for direct energy production equipment(turbines): the average working duty ranges from A4/M4 to A5/M5, and given the low usage and low speed (1/2 m/min lifting, 15 m/min trolley cross travel, 20 m/min long travel) but characterized by the lifting capacity that can reach 400 Tons.
